Since retiring from Union Institute and University as Dean of New Program Development, Bill has been focused primarily on developing educational material for Feminomics Inc. and co-facilitates Feminomics' training programs in gender mainstreaming. He has continued his research on racial and gender bias and recently co-authored a manuscript entitled “Cognitive Schemas, Gender Bias and Leadership.” Bill holds a Ph. D. in Education from West Virginia University and an MA in Clinical Psychology from the University of Dayton and a BA in Psychology from the University of Colorado. As a licensed Psychologist (Maryland) for over 26 years, Bill's specialties were family psychology and hypnotherapy. In family psychology, he was one of the first psychologists to be board certified by American Board of Professional Psychology and later served on the board of the ABPP Board for family psychology. In his other clinical specialty, hypnotherapy, he was certified by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis as an approved consultant. Membership in ASCH is limited to licensed health care providers. Both of these activities included intense peer review of clinical skill and theoretical perspective. From theses experiences Bill came to value outcome based evaluation. During this period of his career, Bill published several articles in professional journals on his work and hosted a weekly radio show on family therapy in Washington DC. In the field of higher education, as an educator, Bill taught counseling psychology at the Bowie State University campus of the University of Maryland for over 25 years. He was the co-founder of the Adler-Dreikurs Institute at Bowie State University and developed professional workshops in the Washington, D.C. area and around the world providing training in various clinical areas. He consulted with psychology programs and groups in Canada, Israel, England, Luxembourg, Greece, South Africa and the Soviet Union. Bill has considerable experience n the area of distance learning. He was selected as a team leader to participate in a University System of Maryland inter-institutional effort to develop web based courses. As part of this effort, he developed on-line graduate courses in ethics which were selected as being examples of how web based resources could be well utilized for student coursework. He made a number of presentations to professional groups on distance learning topics and co-authored two articles on creating web based courses. In 2000, Bill was appointed Dean of New Program Development at The Union Institute and University in Cincinnati, Ohio where he developed innovative distance based Ph. D. programs. He established two successful accredited cohort programs designed for senior level administrators. One program was for senior level administrators in higher education in the greater Cincinnati area and the other program was developed for senior officers in the field of association management developed in cooperation with the American Association of Association Executives. |
